Laurus: A Case for Saintly Imagination
2020 Symposium Plenary and Breakout Session Abstract by Jessica Hooten Wilson
I WILL walk us through the Russian novel Laurus, by Eugene Vodolazkin. We'll see how the narrative embodies a holy life and why the book is a paramount example of "saintly imagination." How might a novel aid us in sanctification? What about Laurus's life allows us vicariously to experience holy vision?
For the breakout session, we'll dig deeper into Vodolazkin's novel and have more time for discussion.
