It is communities that can be dedicated to discourse and to the renovation of judgment. And a dedicated community is an institutionalized one: it is institutions like universities and colleges that might undertake to reinvent the West's intellectual enterprise. It is the enterprise as such that needs to be reinvented, the total discourse of the university that we are called to renew.
