Sponsor a Runner and Support Cultural Renewal

Running to Raise Funds for Cultural Renewal.

Director Erin Doom is inviting supporters from Wichita and throughout the country to join him and the Eighth Day running team through donations/sponsorships, as well as by meeting up with us on the date of the event.

If you have benefited from the work of the Eighth Day Institute, would you partner with us as we work to revive our culture through faith and learning?

01 The Details

On May 3, Anno Domini 2020, Team EDI will run the spring Prairie Fire Race series in Wichita, KS.

Anyone can participate since the running options include a half-marathon, a 5K, a Kid's Mile, and a Fun/Run walk.

And go ahead and mark your calendar for the fall Prairie Fire race. Director Doom plans to up his game to running his first full marathon on Oct. 11.

02 The Cause

The EDI running team will be raising funds to support our various efforts to renew culture through faith and learning: Inklings Oktoberfest, Eighth Day Symposium, Florovsky-Newman Week, Hall of Men, Sisters of Sophia, Eighth Day Moot, Christian News-Letter, Synaxis, Seminars, Pilgrimages, et al.

03 The Course

Prairie Fire Marathon is a relatively flat to rolling course that takes runners through some of Wichita’s historic neighborhoods. The race runs through the heart of the city, beginning and ending in downtown. Runners pass through the Central Business District, College Hill, Eastborough, Old Town, Riverside, Old Cowtown and cross the Arkansas River at the Keeper of the Plains monument. Course elevation ranges from 1293 feet above sea level to 1397 feet above sea level. Most of this elevation change is from miles 3 to 14. The first 3 miles and last 12 are very flat.

"Wichita is the place where contemporary saints mingle with the saints of old. It’s an absolutely lovely place, where the line between heaven and earth becomes strangely thin."
