Jason Baxter Inklings Talks

"Literature in the Ruins: Zuckerberg, Yeats, and the Thought of C. S. Lewis" and "How to Die in Sardinia: Lewis on the Landscape of Literature" by Jason M. Baxter

In this pair of talks, I will use the thought of C. S. Lewis to argue that for us literature, and the arts more generally, are not a need, but a matter of urgency. In the first talk, I’ll use Lewis’s thoughts on how we got here. In the second one, I’ll use an experience of my own, when I almost died in Sardinia, to think through Lewis’s intuition about the connection between literature and landscape.
