revealing to me something of Paradise,
which opened up this Paradise.
and carry back with me from Paradise
which are here scattered about for Your feast
Blessed is He who both gave and received the crown!
of tongues and voices:
sounding like trumpets and horns,
resemble harps and lyres;
as they reach up together towards heaven,
Blessed is He for whom the silent have thundered out!
heaven above roars with thunder:
of those above and those below.
are joined with the Divinity’s thunder,
lightning flashes intermingle;
with the pasturage, the Paschal fast.
that in the Ark all voices cried out:
but inside, lovely voices;
uttered together in chaste fashion,
when unmarried girls and boys
praise to the Lord of that Ark.
his fine actions as offerings,
that I stand here so impoverished.
for it a second Nisan is come,
garlanded in all kinds of wreaths,
Blessed is the Cloud which has distilled in me its moisture!
gathered from the Scriptures, as though it were from the hills?
filled the spacious bosom of the mind.
blossoms all over the crowds:
catch them with your senses,
Blessed is he who is garlanded with his handmaids!
have the children strewn before the King:
the path was filled with them;
their songs [of joy] like lilies.
does the crowd of children scatter for You, Lord,
Blessed is He who was acclaimed by young children.
an armful of children’s voices,
fill the bosoms of our ears.
and with these let each intersperse
so that, for this great feast,
Blessed is He who invited us to plait it!
his homilies like flowers,
the deacons of their reading,
children of their psalms,
chief citizens of their benefactions,
Blessed is He who gave us so many opportunities for good!
the martyrs, apostles, and prophets,
shine out like themselves—
so fragrant are their lilies:
and they bring back fair bunches
O praise to You from the [saints who are] blessed!
compared with the wealth of Your crown
in which faith shines out,
and holiness is mingled in,
O great King of all flowers,
Blessed is He who gave it us to weave!
and in return grant us salvation;
rebuild the churches that were burnt,
we may plait You a great wreath,
coming in from all sides
Blessed is He who has acted and is able to act!
